Chromite

Mineral: Chromite

Chromite is a mineral that is an iron chrome oxide. It has a chemical formula of FeCr2O4.

The main constituent of Portalum A25 is Corundum. The material is produced from refractory agglomerated super calcined bauxite.

Corundum is a crystaline off-colour Aluminium Oxide, characterised by:

  • High inertness in various media
  • Excellent thermal stability
  • High density and, as a result, low oil absorption
  • High Mohs hardness of 5.5
  • High Refractive Index between 2.08 and 2.16
