Plastic Pipes
Plastic pipes in waste water application (specially in residential areas) are typically based on PE, PP or PVC resin. For regular applications the compound is CaCO3 filled. However, if sound deadening is an important feature the density of the compound is increased by replacing CaCO3 with high density fillers such as barytes. Typical loading level necessary is 65 % by weight.

Barytes used for such aplication must comply with following functional demands:
- Mechanical performance (impact strength, tensile strength and elongation of the final compound).
- Thermal/chemical stabiltiy of the compound (oxygen inhibition time).
- Non-abrasive towards the extrusion equipment.
- Neutral colour.
- Smooth surface finish (particle size distribution demand).
