Introduction

 

Chromite is a mineral that is an iron chrome oxide. It has a chemical formula of FeCr2O4.

The main constituent of Portachrome A is chromite. 

Chromite is a crystalline off-colour Metal Oxide, characterised by:

  • High melting point
  • Excellent thermal stability
  • High density 
  • Medium Mohs hardness of 5.5
